Paddington Arm Clean 24th July 2021

The Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal opened on 10th July 1801 and to mark the 220th anniversary of this, we are going to clear litter and rubbish from over 12 miles along the whole arm.

Who Are We Working With?

The Inland Waterways Association

The Inland Waterways Association is the membership charity that works to protect and restore the country's miles of canals and rivers. IWA is a national organisation with a network of volunteers and branches who deploy their expertise and knowledge to work constructively with navigation authorities, government and other organisations. The Association also provides practical and technical support to restoration projects through its expert Waterway Recovery Group.

Canal and River Trust

CRT is a registered charity which holds the guardianship of 2,000 miles of canals and rivers, together with reservoirs and a wide range of heritage buildings and structures, in England and Wales. Launched on 12 July 2012, the Trust took over the responsibilities of the state-owned British Waterways.

The Kusuma Trust

We are delighted to announce that the event has been awarded a grant by the Kusuma Trust. The grant application was made by the Inland Waterways Association (IWA) on our behalf, and we'd like to thank them for all their hard work in achieving this. The IWA will now be able to purchase equipment for us to use.

The Trust are a family-led trust making philanthropic investments in the community around us. They give grants to causes, organisations and people that are making a positive difference to society. They choose partners based on their shared values and mutual interests – creating access to opportunities, improving health and well-being, and investing in our communities and environment.

The Sharks Canoe Club

The Sharks have kindly offered us support for our event and they will be bringing two open canoes to help collect litter from the canal.

How Can You Help?

We need volunteers to litter pick, to help with large items found, to help load the boats, to encourage us! We also need volunteers with kayaks/canoes to help get litter from the water.

To show your interest, please complete a short registration form. Don't worry, you're not signing your life away, we just need some details so we can keep you up to date with our plans.
